Modelling Tutorial Ruffled Dense Rose - Guida Come Creare una Rosa Densa

Cosa serve - What You Need

Pasta di mais
Tempere o colori acrilici
Pellicola di plastica

Corn Dough
Tempera or acrylic paints

Plastic film

This tutorial is also adaptable to other materials such as
polymer clay, salt dough, plastic chocolate, das and others. The process is similar for all pastes, you can use this for make roses with different materials.

Come Creare un Bocciolo - How to Create a Rosebud

1- To color the corn dough add a little amount of color and start to mix.until the color is perfectly blended. Corn dough can be colored with tempera colors, acrylics or natural pigments. For obtain the perfect shade you can continue to add color until you get the shade you want, you can also mix different colors. For more information of corn dough: all about the corn dough (ingredients, coloring and drying)
2 - To create a perfect realistic gradient effect you can use two shades of the same color, a lighter shade and a darker one.For the inner petals and the rosebud we use the light shade and for the outer petals we use the dark one.
3 -Take a little of dough and first make a cylindrical shape then bent it an a C-shape and press the inner part of the C until it becomes very thin, be sure to leave the outer part more thick.it a bit'.
4 - Here's the result.
5 - Roll it on itself remembering to keep the thicker part down.
6 - The bud is finished and the result should be like this!

Come Creare un Petalo - How to Crate a Petal

1 - Start with a small ball and flatten it slightly.
2 - You can use a plastic wrap or a rolling pin for working better and make it as thin as possible.
3 - Roll slightly back the upper edge of the petal.
4 - Pluck or make notches to the petal to make it more relalistic.
Come Creare una Rosa - How to Create a Rose

6 – Pizzicate i bordi dei patali e arrotolateli leggermente all’indietro.
1 – Take one petal and using slight pressure attack it to the bud. You just need to press it a little on the rose base to attack it. If the dough is very dry and it is hard to stick you can use a little of water at the bottom of the petal as a glue.
2 - Roll the petal around the bud to make it stick, remember that the petal should stick only in the lower part.
3 - Take another petal and attach it in the opposite side of the previous in the same way as you attacked the first.
4 - Once attacked the second petal you can roll it back and make a small notch to create more realism.
5 - Each petal you add must be slightly larger than the previous because the diameter of the rose gradually enlarges.
6 – You can make few notches in the petals and roll back the upper edges. .
7 - If you want to use two shades of color, after you have applied 3 or 4 petals, you can start using the lighter shade.
8 - As you add petals you will create a stem, it consist the lower part of the petals and the bud.
9 - Continue to apply petals in the opposite part of the previous, for obtain a dense rose make the petals sticks well to the bottom and leave them quite close to each other in the upper part.
10 - Last two petals need to be very large because they have to "close" the rose.
11 - In the lower part has created a stem, you can cat it with a knife or leave it if you want to put the rose in a jar or container that needs a support.
12 - The rose is finished!

  1. Thank you for showing this. You make it look so easy, however I know it takes a lot of practice to become so good at what you do.
